Expo Transport Guide


This page provides travelers with transport information as how to get to the site of the Expo 2010 Shanghai. MTR maps are provided at the bottom of this page. You may click to enlarge the maps to have better views.  It is recommended that you make a printout of the MTR maps before starting your journey to the Shanghai Expo. You may also consider printing an Expo site map from my blog.

Expo Entrances and Exits
There are in total 13 entrances/ exits for the Expo Site. These include 8 ground entrances/ exits (5 at the Pudong Section and 3 at the Puxi Section), 4 extra-site water gates, and 1 subway entrance/ exit.

Public Transport to the Expo Site
Visitors may take special Expo buses (over 90 routes) ,  special Expo taxi (service hotline: 96822), or tour coaches to the Expo parking areas.  Expo cab drivers can speak simple English. Distances between the parking areas and Expo Entrances for security checks vary among gates. They range from 5 to 15 minutes walks. For individual visitors' convenience, metro line is  highly recommended. Please refer to the following Metro Lines for the access to the Expo Site:

Metro Line 4
Visitors should get off from Luban Road or South Xizang Road Station to reach the gates at Zone D or E respectively. 

Visitors may take a 15-minute walk or transit bus from the Luban Road Metro Station to Gate 1 at Zone D. This makes an easy access to the  World Expo Museum, Pavilion of Urban Footprint (Theme Pavilion), Coco-Cola Pavilion, and Shanghai Corporate Pavilion.

Visitors who take off from South Xizang Road can reach  Gate 2 which is located at the junction of Zone D or E. Recommended Pavilions in Zone E are Wanke Pavilion 2049, China Aviation Pavilion, and Pavilion of Future (Theme Pavilion). Please note that it takes quite a distance walk from Gate 2 to these pavilions.

Metro Line 6
Visitors should get off from West Gaoke Road Station and take a transit bus to reach Gate 4 at Zone A. Recommended visits for Zone A are Japan Pavilion and Saudi Arabia Pavilion. However, it takes quite a distance walk from Gate  4 to these pavilions.

Metro Line7
Visitors may take off from Houtan Station, Changqing Road Station, Yaohua Road Station, or West Gaoke Road Station to reach Zone C, B, or A respectively.

Houtan Station is close to Gate 8 at Zone C which leads to Africa Pavilion, USA Pavilion, and European Pavilions. Recommended pavilions are USA Pavilion, France Pavilion, Switzerland Pavilion, Spain Pavilion, and Germany Pavilion.

Changqing Road Station is not far away from Gate  7 which is at the junction of  Zone B and C. Visitors can take a walk to the Thailand Pavilion, Australia Pavilion and New Zealand Pavilion.

Yaohua Road Station is about 5 minutes walk from Gate  6 which makes an easy access to the Expo Axis, Hong Kong Pavilion, and China Pavilion located at Zone A. Gate 6 is also not too far away from the Theme Pavilions including Urbanian Pavilion, Pavilion of City Being, and Pavilion of Urban Planet in Zone B.

There is a connection bus between West Gaoke Road Station and Gate 4 at Zone A. Recommended visits for Zone A are Japan Pavilion and Saudi Arabia Pavilion. However, it takes quite a distance walk from Gate 4 to these pavilions.

Metro Line 8
Visitors should either get off from South Xizang Road Station to reach Gate 2 at the junction of Zone D and E, or Yaohua Road Station which is about 5 minutes walk from  Gate 6 at Zone A for an easy access to Expo Axis and China Pavilion, etc.

Metro Line 9

Visitors should get off from Madang Road Station for security checks at Gate 9, and then get change to the Special Metro Line 13 which will stop within the Expo Site.

(Note: Zone A, B, and C are located at the Pudong Section. Zone D and E are located at  the Puxi Section).

Special Metro Line 13
Metro Line 13 is specifically designed to facilitate travelers running between Pudong and Puxi Sections free of charge within the Expo Site. There are 3 stops: Madang Road Station (for entrance and exit to and from the Expo Site), Lupu Bridge Station at Zone D (Puxi), and Expo Avenue Station at Zone B (Pudong).

There is a cross-river shuttle bus running between Puxi and Pudong.




Water Entrance/ Exit
Dongchang Road Water Gate 
Frequency: Every 20 minutes from 08:00am to 11:20am, and every 30 minutes from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.



Qichangzhan Water Gate
Frequency: Every 30 minutes from 08:00am to 11:30am.


Shiliupu Water Gate
Frequency: Every 20 minutes from 08:00am to 11:20am , and every 15 minutes from 4:15pm to 4:45pm.
 
Qinhuangdao Road Water Gate
Frequency: Every 30 minutes from 08:00am to 12:00noon.
